Rating
Established as a form of taxation on commercial and residential property, rates are payable to the Local Authority. There is a complex series of procedures for dealing with Rateable Valuations and it is essential that all appropriate steps are properly adhered to.

Drawing on our practical experience and bank of information, Power & Associates can quickly advise in its opinion whether or not the Valuation Office's assessment on your property is fair and whether it is worth appealing. When instructed to, Power & Associates will appeal a Rateable Valuation on your behalf and endeavour to reduce your annual rates bill.

The burden of rates is carried entirely by the commercial sector and is now a serious overhead in any business such that any opportunity to make savings must be pursued. Where a property is newly constructed or where there are other material changes, a property can be re-valued and the occupier is given a chance to make a submission and or appeal.
We can assist in the following areas:-

• Assessing the fairness of the existing valuation on the property.
• Negotiating with the Revisions Officer during the assessment process.
• Preparing submissions, lodging and negotiating with the Commissioner of Valuations during the
first appeal process.
• Preparing submissions to the Valuations Tribunal on final appeal.
• Advising on rates exemptions.
• Negotiating rates refunds.
